my favorite holiday.

I LOVE Easter. I love the colors; pinks, greens, blues, pastels. I love the atmosphere; time spent with friends and family, typically sunny weather, so much joy. And I love the food; roasted ham, yummy sides, and scrumptious desserts.

My first Easter in California. While I did miss my family and friends in NC – the whole day was spent surrounded by incredible people and delicious food. I had the opportunity to hear stories of people who were missionaries in South Africa, Liberia, Thailand, Asia – hear their stories of being at the campsite when the Ebola outbreak happened in Liberia in 2014, hear about different stories of sharing the gospel overseas. I also had the opportunity to be encouraged on an incredible day, to not lose hope of loved ones being saved. God is doing work y’all. The seed planting is not in vain.

As I mentioned in one of my other posts, I have started to love baking. It’s a new thing for me. My friends that have known me for years, even my previous roommate – they all know that baking is not something I do. Somehow, now it is! It’s pretty cool though – it’s been a tool I’ve been able to use to simply knock on my neighbors doors and introduce myself. Start conversations. Start relationships. Try it! I truly recommend it, get to know your neighbors. Bake something as simple as cookies – whether you are a college student living on campus or you are a young adult who has just moved to a new city for a new job. The food offering is not in vain – everyone loves free food!

For Easter, we got to do a housewarming for one of the couples at our church. They hosted everyone for the first time and this was the perfect opportunity for me to try Joanna Gaines‘ Lemon Pie from the Magnolia Journal. (Y’all, this journal is so perfect and I truly recommend everyone subscribe – and I am not being paid to advertise this!) The recipe was very simple, the majority of the items I already had in my cabinets and the best part was that it didn’t take long at all! I woke up bright and early at 9am (tried for 8am but, what’s a few more bed snuggles on such a wonderful day?), and danced into the kitchen (literally, so much joy on Easter), pushed play on my worship music – and started mixing! The hardest part was crushing the graham crackers – which really wasn’t that hard at all. The outcome? 10’s straight across from all who tried it!! I may even have to say, I think it’s my new favorite recipe. Paired with my first homemade floral arrangement (also from the Magnolia Journal) and Resurrection Sunday was the cherry on top. I hope everyone had an incredibly wonderful Easter Sunday spent with so much love , joy, and family – most importantly spent worshiping our Savior for being a LIVING God who rose form the dead and still loves and moves today. Love you all!!

“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him. Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.” John 3:16-18

xoxo, Tania.
